Our Commitment
At Verdant Consultancy, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to protecting all learners, particularly children and vulnerable individuals from harm. Our mentors are to act with integrity, professionalism, and care at all times.

1. Overview
This policy outlines Verdant Consultancy’s commitment to safeguarding all learners, particularly vulnerable individuals, from harm in all areas of service delivery. We believe that everyone has the right to learn in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

2. Safeguarding Objectives
Prevent harm, abuse, and exploitation of learners
Promote welfare and dignity in all interactions
Foster a culture of transparency, respect, and accountability

3. Application of Policy
This policy applies to:
All Verdant mentors, staff, consultants, and volunteers
All online and in-person activities facilitated by Verdant
All learners, especially children, neurodiverse individuals, and vulnerable adults

4. Key Responsibilities
All team members are responsible for safeguarding learners and reporting concerns
Verdant’s Safeguarding Officer oversees policy implementation and review
Mentors are expected to comply with this policy, complete relevant training, and report risks proactively
​
5. Online Safeguarding Practices
Use approved platforms for virtual sessions (Zoom & Teams only.)
Avoid private messaging outside approved channels
The recording of sessions must be with agreed parental student and mentor consent.
Maintain a professional background, tone, and conduct

6. UN Child Protection Guidelines
Verdant adheres to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), including:
Article 19: Protection from all forms of violence
Article 28(2): School discipline must respect child dignity
Article 34: Protection from sexual exploitation
Article 36: Protection from other forms of exploitation harmful to the child’s welfare

7. Legal Compliance – Switzerland
Swiss Civil Code, Article 11 & 302: Protection of children and duties of care
Swiss Criminal Code (Articles 187–219): Offences involving minors, neglect, and abuse.

8. Reporting & Reviewing

Reports are handled with confidentiality, urgency, and discretion
This policy will be reviewed on a regular basis, it will be informed by all stakeholders and will be kept updated by regularly checking legal legislation to adjust the policy when required.

9. Breaches & Enforcement
Any breach of this policy may lead to disciplinary action, including termination
Serious breaches may be referred to Swiss authorities

Verdant Consultancy is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all aspects of our business operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to act ethically and with integrity, and to implement effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery does not take place within our organisation or in any organisations with which we work.
This policy is informed by the principles of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and international human rights standards, including the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Green Verdant Consultancy is an education consultancy providing guidance, advisory, and related professional services to students, families, and educational institutions. Our operations are primarily service-based, with a low-risk supply chain.

Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
Given the nature and scale of our business, we assess the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains to be low. Nevertheless, we:

Reporting Concerns
Any concerns or suspicions relating to modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our business should be reported immediately to senior management. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated appropriately.
Responsibility for this Policy
Responsibility for this policy rests with the Director of Green Verdant Consultancy Ltd, who is accountable for its implementation and ongoing review.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect changes in legislation, guidance, or business operations.
